Tuesday July 31st, 2007 - (video diary)

Since the video diary section of the website is so volatile, I will definitely continue with the manual blogging as well. Manual blogging? I just made that up.

Anyway, in a nutshell. I’m feeling less freaked out than yesterday that it’s two weeks until the crawl. My right arm is really hurting me so I’ve gone out and purchased two kinds of wrist guards to try to correct the problem. ouch!

two weeks to go.  not too surprising to be a little nervous…

becky picCrazy weekend.  There is still so much to do to prepare for this crawl but meanwhile I’m also working at The Theatre Centre and rehearsing for Becky Johnson’s SummerWorks show Anorexican which opens this Friday at 4:30pm at Factory Studio. I’m also very excited about that show.  (Becky is awesome!)  http://www.anorexican.com/ This ghostly picture was taken by Becky after rehearsal one night. That apparition on the left is actually our stage manager Sara!  I will start the video diaries soon I promise.

what happens if I don’t erase the dot….

I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to actually buy this Divorce Kit. Although, I didn’t really know this thing existed until a few months ago. The research into getting a divorce has been very half hearted over the past five years. But eventually a friend told us about this option and so…. here it is.

It’s 90% filled out. It may be 100% filled out — but I still need to go back and double check. Just to be sure I haven’t missed anything.

I… well … it’s just a little sad. Like the last day of camp.

craal at TCNo, I didn’t fall down. This is just one of my many variations on the basic crawl. This uses my forearms (not my hands) to pull me forward, like I’m a soldier… kind of…  except I’m still keeping my hips off the ground… which is one way of doing things.

If you’re wondering where I am — that’s a glimpse of the beautiful Theatre Centre where I work. Want to see more? There’s a link over to your right under Sponsors.

my knee pads So yes. I am wearing kneepads! I think that might be people’s favourite question to ask… even before asking, “why are you doing this?”.

To the left is just one pair of kneepads I’m currently using. And I will have at least 4 pairs with me the day of the crawl.

Not that this has anything to do with anything - but I keep craving sugar. And once you start eating oat bars (for example), it becomes almost impossible to break the daily ritual.  That can’t be good for the training….

Monday July 23, 2007

Monday August 23So today I decided to take the training back indoors. I have a great boyfriend, I have to say. He didn’t seem to mind at all that I was crawling around his house for an hour while he made dinner. We could chat, catch up on all the news from his weekend away.

Notice the rolled up socks I have taped around my hands to protect my palms? Read the rest »

Sunday July 22nd

Sunday August 22The photo beside doesn’t really show off the grass stains, dirty hands and sweaty body the way I had hoped. I wish I’d had my camera an hour earlier when I was crawling through the park. I’ve been very shy to crawl outdoors (in public) but somehow, today, I lost my inhibitions. My need was so intense to get some crawling in — and that grass was looking mighty comfy! (I had left my kneepads at The Theatre Centre so I wasn’t looking forward to crawling indoors.) NEXT PHASE of ON MY KNEES begins - Time to stop crawling - get up and dance!

FREE WORKSHOPS COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU… so the next phase includes a communal choreography. That’s where you come in. Beginning in Toronto this spring/summer I’ll be leading free workshops for those interested in exploring the theme Beyond Pain. Workshops are open to all - men and women, non-artists, artists, those who have been divorced, or not, but are interested in using physicality to locate emotional pain and then create private rituals that will allow them to move that pain out of their bodies. I’m currently investigating the possibilities of workshops in Banff, Montreal, Halifax, Vancouver, New York and … France (ok, that’s a long shot, but we’ll see). If you are able to offer any help in making these happen — please let me know!! For more information see The Project - above toolbar.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The website might be a bit slow until I edit the content more thoroughly, but there’s lots here if you just keep scrolling down! Also, I am posting a link to a beautiful slide show of photos from the day taken by Jeremy Mimnagh. It’s like seeing a silent movie of the whole day. http://www.mimnagh.ca/onmyknees/

(none of Jeremy’s pic’s are posted on this site - most of those pretty pictures are thanks to the multi-talented Becky Johnson , Erin Klee + also the fab Kathleen Smith)
